Video Updates from Austin

Austin and Michelle Drill founded Casa de Tierra and have been living in San Juan del Sur for years now, using environmentally-sustainable building methods to create homes, schools, and community projects around Nicaragua.

They were our first choice when we were looking for a general contractor to take on the Free High School campus project, and happily they agreed. Since then, Austin has been sending regular video updates on construction progress at the campus, and we’re delighted to share them with you.

The first building of the campus was started years ago by another organization, but funding dried up and they abandoned the project. Scroll down to the bottom two videos to see where their work left off and ours began.

August 2015

The team spent August through October finalizing plans, budgets, and contracts, putting together the Environmental Management Report (available here in Spanish), and obtaining permits. Here, Austin walks us through a visualization of the finished building.

Austin gives us a visual of his ideas during our early discussions about the building’s design/plans.
